UK inflation is leading the way in the G7 and is above 10% in July for the first time in 40 years. The resulting cost-of-living crisis is exasperated by the heavy reliance of the UK economy on gas and Brexit trade frictions. Labour action is intensifying with train services across the UK cancelled today, strikes being announced in docker ports and London subways. This all comes at a moment of uncertainty in terms of political leadership. The UK example shows in an extreme way what could expect the other European countries across the English Channel over the coming months.
