Long term view

We are business owners and therefore take a long-term view. That should certainly not be confused with us not investing in companies with near-term value triggers. Rather, long-term means that we keep both feet on the ground without panicking if the stock market swings violently as we believe we have a solid understanding of the real underlying company values. Hence, if necessary, we have time to wait until the market adjusts. Moreover, the companies continue to compound profits, which we and our investors benefit from even during the course of the wait as the companies’ ability to pay dividend or invest in growing lines of business unfolds.

Solid understanding of businesses

Being a valuation aware investor guided by a solid understanding of the businesses should also not be confused with reservations to growth companies. In fact, we naturally appreciate growing Earning Power, the cash that could be extracted from a business in a normal year while reinvesting enough in the business to maintain its current market position and production capacities. Meanwhile, we are careful to avoid overpaying for news darling companies attracting high valuations.
